The Usual Q. T. Takes Grade One Eddie Read

Favored California-bred The Usual Q. T. swung out entering the stretch and accelerated to deceptively easy victory in Saturday’s $300,000 Grade I Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar.

The Usual Q. T. is by Unusual Heat, out of the Western Fame mare Lunge, was bred by Carlee Van Kampen, is owned by Ron Van Racing, Michael Nentwig, Goerge Saadeh and Jeffrey Byer and trained by James Cassidy.

He has eight wins in 15 starts, earnings of $993,320 and was coming off a win in a June 27 allowance.

The Usual Q. T. ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:47.28 and won by two lengths as the 7-5 favorite. Cal-bred Enriched finished third.
